Reader's Report
We were ten strangers, heading home, all the way in the back on the 38L, Geary Limited:
three sleeping (one holding two big paperback textbooks)
one texting
five reading--four of them wearing iPods, including one reading something about Africa and one reading Welcome to the Monkey House.
Rest in peace, Kurt Vonnegut.

Wait. 50% of the bus was reading?! I am in happy disbelief for sure! Rarely do I see any adults reading these days--so I'm ecstatic to hear that it's happening on the 38L.
...it makes me sad to realize that there will be no more new Vonnegut books.
He wasn't the Bukowski of prose. To me, he was better somehow. More like himself. I stumbled into Cody's in Berkeley one day and there he was giving a talk. The place was in stitches and awe.
